ATOMIC HABITS · FACT
A Slipped Bat Ended a Season and Started a Philosophy
On the final day of his sophomore year of high school, a teammate's swing slipped and a baseball bat hit James Clear in the face. It crushed his nose into a U-shape, fractured his skull in several places, and shattered both eye sockets. He was placed in a medically induced coma and suffered seizures. The injury that nearly ended his athletic life became the starting point of everything he later wrote about habits.
