PHILOSOPHY · FACT
The Love of Wisdom
The word philosophy comes from the Greek philosophia — philo (love) + sophia (wisdom). It is the rigorous, rational examination of the most fundamental questions about existence, knowledge, values, reason, mind, and language. A philosopher accepts nothing on authority or tradition, but interrogates the assumptions hidden inside every claim — using reason and argument rather than faith or experiment alone.
